Mango is India’s favourite fruit - and equally loved worldwide. Year after year, we dig into a delicious mango season by enjoying various varieties of the exquisite, juicy fruit.

What if we could show a little love for mangoes, by planting one of its seeds?

Each mango seed that we throw in the garbage has the potential to become a beautiful mango tree in the years to come.

All we have to do is take a little time and patience, and plant the seed instead of throwing it away.

Don’t know how to start? Here are a few tips!

STEP 1

Clean the seed. Remove all the remaining pulp and leave the husk to dry completely for a day or two.

STEP 2

Unwrap the seed within the seed! Did you know the actual mango seed is hidden behind a layer of husk? Gently peel back the husk without damaging the seed.

STEP 3

Clean the seed. Each mango seed looks different!

STEP 4

Sprout the seed. Wrap it in a damp paper towel and place in a plastic bag for 3 weeks.

STEP 5

Plant the seed. After the seed has properly sprouted, plant it in a potting mix, and shower it with water and love!


It’s not about eating the fruit you grow. It’s about making the fruit into something more.
