i don't know the effect on insects but yes it's naturally refreshing and i am aware it has no side effects on health like naphtaline balls 

it's working properly I'm using for 3weeks. From the first day onwards, the effectiveness is shown below. I have a lot of mosquitos in my house but I haven't seen any mosquitoes or insects since I started using it.
only downside is It will last for 60 days as claimed on the packet. But actually one stick lasts less than 15 days
