SET UP THE BOARD

• Place the board between the 2 players.
• One player takes the 12 red men and the other 12 black ones.
• Each player sets up his/her men on the board.

THE MOVES

• The player with the black men plays first by moving one of his/her front-line men one square forward, along either diagonal row of dark squares. (His/her front-line men are on the numbers 21, 22, 23, and 24).
• One of them, therefore, must be moved to an adjoining square (either 17, 18, 19 or 20). The other player moves in the same manner.
• The players take tums alternately, moving their men along the diagonal row of dark squares, towards the opponent's back line.
• Moves are made to unoccupied dark squares only.

THE JUMPS

• If an opponent's man is in the next diagonal square ahead, with an empty dark square directly behind and in the same diagonal line in the row ahead, you must jump that man and land in the empty square thereby capturing your opponent's man.
• Captured men are removed from the board. If there are Successive jumps in a straight or zigzag forward direction, you must make all of them.
• A player must capture his/her opponent's me whenever possible. Failing to do so, he/she ‘HUFFED!, that is, his/her opponent, as a penalty removes from the board the man who should make the capture.

KINGS

• If one of your men reaches the opponent's backline he/she becomes a King and the opponent places a captured man on top of him/her to indicate this can move in any direction along empty adjoining squares, forward/backwards or diagonally.

THE WINNER

• The first person to remove all the opponents from the board or block the opponent's moves is the winner.
