5. Kanthari Chilli
A unique chilli that turns white in colour when they mature, the Kanthari chilli is grown in parts of Kerela. They are also a type of birds eye chillies. Their hotness lends a spicy flavour to South Indian dishes.
6. Mundu Chilli
Small and round, the Mundu chillies have a thin skin and are found in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. They have a mildly spicy flavour and enhance the taste of any dish that they are added to. Their unique flavour is easily recognizable.
7. Jwala Chilli
A native of the state of Gujarat, the Jwala chilli is now grown all around the country and are used in making a number of Indian dishes. They are green when they are young but turn red once that have matured and adds colour to the dish. They are considered to be one of the most important crops in India and can be grown at home as well.
8. Byadagi Chilli
Known by its dry and crinkled appearance, the Byadagi chilli is grown in Karnataka. They have thin skin and have a long shape. Quite similar to the western paprika, they are consumed all around the country and lend a colourful pungency to the dish.
