Kodhra/Kodu Millet Biriyani

Kodo millet biryani is a healthier option to rice biryani and can be consumed by sugar patients liberally. Even a tiny portion is enough to fill the stomach.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Soak Kodo millet in 2 cups of water. In a pressure pan, heat oil and ghee and fry whole garam masala.

Step 2 :

Add chilli garlic and ginger paste. Saute onions till they turn translucent.

Step 3 :

Add chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder. Fry for a minute.

Step 4 :

Add salt and Kodo millet along with water. Add coriander leaves and pudina.

Step 5 :

Add curds and bring it to boil. Cover the lid. Put the weight and simmer till 1 whistle.

Step 6 :

Once the pressure subsides, open the lid and add lemon juice and stir well.

Step 7 :

Healthy Kodo millet biryani is ready.

Step 8 : Serve with

It can be served with mixed vegetables raita or boondi raita.
