Idly and Vada Curry

A famous recipe in Tamil Nadu, you can enjoy the vada curry as a side dish for idli, puri, dosa and chapati.

Step 1 :

Soak chana dal for 1/2 an hour and grind it coarsely with salt and half of the fennel seeds.

Step 2 :

In a deep pan, pour oil and let it become hot.

Step 3 :

Now make the dough as pakodas and keep aside.

Step 4 :

Grind all the other items in a mixer grinder.

Step 5 :

Pour some vegetable shortening in a deep pan and make seasoning with fennel seeds.

Step 6 :

Pour all the masala in the pan and fry well. Add salt.

Step 7 :

While the oil comes out of the masala, add the pakodas and pour 2 to 3 cups of water. Smash all the pakodas, i.e. vada well.

Step 8 :

Another option is to cut all the vadas into two pieces and add it to the boiling masala.

Step 9 :

Let it cook for a while and get a thick gravy consistency.

Step 10 :

Meanwhile, you make idly in the idly pan.

Step 11 :

Now remove vada curry from the fire and serve with hot Idly.
