Healthy Porridge

A healthy porridge of daliya, ragi, bajra and vegetables that detoxifies and aids in weight loss. It can be prepared in less oil and can be had during dinner or lunch.

Preparation

Step 1 :

Coarsely grind daliya, bajra and ragi in a mixer separately.

Step 2 :

Sauté (dry roast) the ground daliya, ragi and bajra in a pan for 2-3 minutes. You can also sauté it with few drops of ghee (adding ghee is totally optional).

Step 3 :

Boil the bajra mixture separately in a cup of water for 10-15 minutes, as bajra takes a little bit more time to cook.

Step 4 :

Add 2 teaspoons oil in a pressure cooker and put the jeera and mustard seeds. When the seeds splutter, add asafoetida, slit green chillies and julienne or grated ginger. Now add the cut vegetables of your choice and sauté it for 2 minutes. You can add or remove vegetables as per your choice.

Step 5 :

Add daliya and ragi mixture. Mix well with vegetables and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Now add salt, coriander powder and Kashmiri chilli powder. If you want to add bajra to your recipe, add bolied bajra (step 3) at this stage.

Step 6 :

Add 5-6 cups of water for a porridge like consistency. You can add more water if you want thin consistency.

Step 7 :

Mix the mixture once and close the lid. Pressure cook the mixture for 10-12 minutes on medium flame (probably 3-4 whistles, depending upon your pressure cooker).

Step 8 :

Open the lid once the mixture is cooked and the pressure is down. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve.
