Shakarpara is a traditional sweet snack in India. It is a simple snack food prepared with common ingredients. It is a must snack during the festival of Holi.

Step 1 :
Take a bowl and add maida, 2 tbsp ghee, salt and mix well.
Step 2 :
Add water as required and prepare a soft dough. Cover it with a plate and let it set for 10 minutes.
Step 3 : To prepare the sugar syrup
Take a pan, add sugar, 200 ml water and let it boil.
Step 4 :
Add lemon juice, cardamom powder, saffron strands and mix it well. Prepare a one string consistency sugar syrup.
Step 5 : To prepare the shakarpara rings
Knead the dough, cut it into small pieces, dust maida and roll out the dough, do not roll it too thin nor too thick.
Step 6 :
Cut edges and form rectangle and dust some maida over it. Take a knife and make strips. Divide it into 6-7 strips each.
Step 7 :
Join edges of the strips and twist it and form a ring. Apply water on edges and strips.
Step 8 :
Take a kadhai, heat the ghee on medium flame and fry all the shakarpara Rings. Stir occasionally, fry till it turns golden and crisp.
Step 9 :
After frying, dip the fried shakarpara rings into the warm sugar syrup for a minute and coat it well.
Step 10 :
Garnish it with some chopped pistachios and serve it with tea.
