Poshtik Dahi Vada

This Poshtik Dahi Vada is a traditional Holi dish prepared in North of India. This dish a healthier version using urad dal.

Step 1 :

Soak moong dal and urad dal overnight in water.

Step 2 :

Drain the water in a sieve to remove excess water and set aside.

Step 3 :

Now, grind the soaked dal into a thick paste using a grinder.

Step 4 :

Pour the paste in a vessel, add a little water and mix the paste using your hands for about 10-15 minutes. This needs to be done to make the vada fluffy.

Step 5 :

Take a bowl of water and put a spoon of the prepared paste into it, if the paste floats on the surface, it is ready for use.

Step 6 :

Now take the curd in a bowl, add little water and salt, beat it to make it smooth.

Step 7 :

Dry roast red chilly powder. Similarly, roast cumin powder and keep it aside.

Step 8 :

Take a deep bottom pan and add mustard oil to it. Let the oil heat.

Step 9 :

With a ladle start adding the dal paste into the oil and deep fry them to make round vadas.

Step 10 :

Now, add fried vadas to the curd.

Step 11 :

Sprinkle a pinch of black salt, red chilly powder, cumin powder over the dahi vadas.
