In a vessel, heat 1 cup of water along with 1 tsp ghee.

When the water is about to boil, mix the rice flour and salt in the water.

Add rose syrup to it and stir it well. Turn off the burner and leave the utensil covered for 5 minutes.

In two separate bowl, add a little water and ghee respectively and set it aside.

Grease your palms with water and ghee and take out the dough from the utensil.

Mash the dough with your greased palms till the dough becomes soft. Leave the dough covered with a clean cloth.

Add jaggery and coconut in a frying pan.
Step 8

Keep stirring with a spoon and cook till the jaggery and coconut are mixed well and turns into a thick mixture.

To this mixture add rose essence, chopped cashew nuts, almonds and raisins. The filling for the modak is ready.

Grease modak mould with little ghee and close it.

Take a lemon size portion of the dough and mould it into a pear shape.

Insert the dough in the mould and add 1 tbsp of the filling in the cavity.

Using the dough prepare the other half of the modak using the mould and close it. Allow it to rest for 2 minutes.

Now, gently take out the modak. Continue with these steps until the dough it over.

Grease a steamer bowl with 1 tsp oil. Arrange the modaks carefully and steam it in a steamer without weight for 8-10 minutes on medium heat until cooked.
