A healthy and tasty wheat-based cake recipe, an alternative for maida. In addition, the recipe is made without sugar and egg.

Step 1 :

Add grated jaggery to a pan and 1/4 cup of water, allow the jaggery to melt on a low flame. Once the jaggery melts, switch off the stove and allow it to cool down.

Step 2 :

Sieve whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon powder and salt. Mix it well.

Step 3 :

In a mixing bowl, strain the jaggery water to remove any dirt. Add ghee to the jaggery water and mix well.

Step 4 :

Now add milk and jaggery mixture to the flour mixture and mix well. At last add chopped walnuts and mix well.

Step 5 :

Add lemon juice and mix well. The cake batter is ready to bake.

Step 6 :

Pour the batter into the tin and tap the cake tin on a counter to release any air bubbles.

Step 7 :

Add some chopped walnuts over it. Bake it for 40-60 minutes.

Step 8 :

Insert a knife in the middle of the cake. If the mixture does not stick to it, it means the cake is done. Decorate the cake with some fruit jelly.
