Dal Paratha

One of the popular Punjabi breakfast dish. It can be prepared by leftover dal fry / tadka made a day before. It's an instant dish can be used for breakfast or any meal. Relish it with yummy white butter, curd and pickle.

Step 1 :

Knead the wheat flour by adding the left over dal, finely chopped onion, green chillies, ajwain, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt. Make a dough.

Step 2 :

You can also add some water if required to make a dough but better to try and make a dough with leftover dal.

Step 3 :

If the dough becomes sticky then add some flour and if it looks dry and crumbly add some water. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 mins.

Step 4 :

Make balls out of the dough and roll them and make parathas in triangle shape the way you make chapattis.

Step 5 :

Fry parathas in the Tawa by adding ghee while frying each side. Be liberal in using ghee while frying the paratha and make sure that the edges are fried well.

Step 6 :

You can also press the paratha edges with spatula. This way, fry both the sides of the paratha till you see some brown spots appearing on it.

Step 7 :

Once the parathas is cooked remove and keep them aside on a paper napkin.

Step 8 :

Serve the hot dal parathas with white butter (in case you don't make white butter at home you can use normal Amul butter), curd and pickle.
