An upside-down cake is a cake that is baked in a pan, then turned over and served upside-down. It was first invented by a house wife in America. Chopped fruits such as apples, pineapples or cherries along with a butter and sugar topping are placed on the bottom of the pan. Then the batter is poured in, so that they form a decorative topping once the cake is inverted. American pineapple upside-down is one of the Traditional upside-down preparations.
