Preparation

Step 1 :

Smoke mustard oil and add the whole spices.

Step 2 :

When fragrant, add the chopped garlic and fry till golden.

Step 3 :

Add the chopped onion and fry till dark brown.

Step 4 :

Add the chopped ginger and the chopped green chillies and fry for 1-2 minutes.

Step 5 :

Add salt and chopped tomatoes.

Step 6 :

Cook till the oil separates and add the masala powders along with little water if too dry.

Step 7 :

Fry for a minute and add the mutton mince and sear on high for 4-5 minutes.

Step 8 :

Lower the flame and add some water. Cover and cook till the keema is done. The keema should have a thick gravy.

Step 9 :

Grease a thick bottomed handi and add a layer of rice.

Step 10 :

Spread a layer of keema masala on the rice.

Step 11 :

Add another layer of rice.

Step 12 :

Now sprinkle some saffron milk on the rice and then spread a layer of keema masala.

Step 13 :

Repeat another time.

Step 14 :

Close the handi with the lid and put on a low flame for 15-20 minutes.

Step 15 :

Stir the biryani lightly when shifting to the rice plate.
