Makkan Peda is a traditional South Indian recipe that originated from the kitchens of Arcot Nawabs. Tiny bits of nuts embedded in a soft juicy centre, though it looks like Gulab Jamun but tastes different.

Makkan Peda
Step 1 :
Take a pack of Tasties bread slices crumble it, and add khoya, ghee, and cooking soda in a large mixing bowl.
Step 2 :
Mix it gently by sprinkling water and knead it. Keep aside for 10 minutes and prepare sugar syrup to one-string consistency.
Step 3 :
Add sugar and water till the sugar is immersed. Once it starts boiling, simmer it for four to 5 minutes on medium flame.
Step 4 :
To prepare the pedas. Knead the dough again gently to make it smooth. Roll into equal, small lemon-sized balls. Flatten it slightly.
Step 5 :
Stuff with mixed slightly crushed nuts and raisins. cover it with the dough roll it into medium balls and flatten it slightly.
Step 6 :
Heat the oil and make sure the flame is low. Add pedas one at a time. Cook on medium flame until golden brown, gently turn it to ensure even cooking.
Step 7 :
Drain excess oil in a paper towel and soak it in hot sugar syrup.
