Manohora Moonga Dal

Manohora moong dal is a bengali dessert made with moong dal, khoya, milk powder and rich dry fruits

Steps

Step 1 :

Wash moong dal. Keep it in a medium bowl and add 250 ml water. Put 150 ml water in a pressure cooker and keep the bowl with moong dal in the middle of pressure cooker.

Step 2 :

Now, pressure cook with 3 whistles. The dal should be boiled to the softest with no excess water.

Step 3 : For Stuffing

Mix the grated coconut, almond, cashew, green cardamom, 25 gm sugar and khoya. In a saucepan, put ghee and add the stuffing mixture. Mix well in low flame. Continue, till the mixture becomes sticky. Switch off the gas to cool down.

Step 4 :

Add maida and milk powder in the boiled dal. Make a firm dough.

Step 5 :

Make small pieces of ball of dal, add the above stuffing, and press softly against the palm of your hand. This will give a nice round and flat shape.

Step 6 :

Put white oil and 1 tablespoon ghee in a separate saucepan. Add the dal balls in hot oil and fry them both sides till golden brown. Take them out in a plate.

Step 7 : For Syrup

Add 100 gms of sugar to 50 ml of water. Boil for approximately 3 minutes. That syrup should not be thick. Let it cool for 5 minutes.

Step 8 :

Now put the balls in the warm syrup and take it out immediately.

Step 9 : For Garnishing

Put a broken cashew, and a raisin on top of the dal balls.
