Mangalore buns | banana buns

A part of Mangalorean cuisine, ‘Mangalore buns’ or ‘banana buns’ is a famous breakfast and tea time snack in the Udupi-Mangalore region. These are sweet and fluffy puris made using ripened banana. They are usually served with coconut chutney and sambar.

Step 1 :

In a bowl, mash banana and add salt, ghee, curd, soda, sugar and mix properly.

Step 2 :

Now add in maida little by little and keep mixing. Stop adding maida once it gets a dough-like consistency.

Step 3 :

Apply a tsp ghee on top of the dough, cover and keep aside for 4-6 hrs. You can rest it overnight too.

Step 4 :

Make small balls, roll them using flour and rolling pin and deep fry in oil on medium flame.
