Cooking Steps
Soak whole urad dal in water overnight.
Drain, wash and grind properly. Prepare a thick batter out of it.
Add 1 pinch baking soda and mix well.
Make a small sized ball and put it in water to check the batter, when it floats on top it means the batter is ready for deep fry.
Make small size oval shaped balls using wet palms, fill dry fruit pieces in each of the balls.
Then, deep fry till light golden in color on medium heat.
Strain and place it on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
Roast red chillies, black pepper powder, chaat masala and cumin seeds in a pan, on high heat for few seconds.
In a mixer, grind and make a fine powder of the roasted spices.
Boil 1 liter of water, add the prepared ground powder and add salt to it. Dip the balls in it and keep it for 10 minutes.
Squeeze excess water from each ball and place it in a serving bowl.
Add beaten curd into it and add some sweeten curd on top of it.
Serve it with tamarind and green chutney in a bowl.
Season it with roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder, salt and chaat masala.
Decorate with fruits like pomegranate, grapes and coriander leaves.
