Elaneer Appam is a soft, lacy South Indian delicacy, enriched with the natural sweetness of coconut water for a unique twist on the classic.

Cooking Steps

Elaneer Appam

Step 1 :

Take 2 cups of any fragrant rice and soak it with the fenugreek seeds for about 2 hours. Drain the rice after soaking. Now take the coconut water with pulp and add it to a blender, add the rice along with some salt and blend. Make sure to blend into a very fine paste.

Step 2 :

Once the batter is ready, add some sugar and the yeast and mix well. Keep in a cool and dry place to ferment for a few hours. After about 4-5 hours, the batter will appear risen and frothy. Mix gently and make the batter slightly thinner than the dosa batter.

Step 3 :

Heat the appam kadai and brush it lightly with oil, now gently pour some of the batters into the kadai and rotate it, so that it is thinly coated with the appam batter. Once cooked, do not flip the appam, but remove gently from the kadai using a spatula. Serve hot with delicious spicy or sweet stew.
