Kohlapuri Mutton Curry

Mutton is a good source of protein and iron. Each serve of this dish provides 70% of daily protein needs and 20% of daily iron needs for an adult. Protein helps in body building and iron is required for blood cells formation and transporting oxygen. To enhance the iron absorption take accompaniments like pudina chutney, amla chutney, salad sprinkled with lemon, etc. that are rich in vitamin C.

Step 1 :

In a kadai, dry roast grated coconut, cloves, cinnamon, whole pepper, red chillies, poppy seeds, coriander seeds and aniseed, till coconut is golden brown.

Step 2 :

Once it cools down, grind the same ingredients, coarsely.

Step 3 :

In a pressure cooker, heat the coarsely ground spices for a minute.

Step 4 :

Add maggi bhuna masala, the mutton pieces and mix well. Fry it for about 5 minutes.

Step 5 :

Add potatoes and water. Pressure cook it on low flame for 5 minutes after the first whistle. Serve it hot!
