Tomato Garlic Rasam

It is a traditional South Indian dish, served with rice or can be had plain.

Step 1 :

Boil the toor dal and tomato by adding turmeric powder, after 3 whistles, switch it off and keep aside.

Step 2 :

Then soak the tamarind in lukewarm water, take the juice and discard the tamarind.

Step 3 :

Transfer the tamarind water in a vessel on medium heat.

Step 4 :

Add rasam powder, salt to taste, boiled dal and tomato to it. Mash it well and let it boil. Add hing and remove the tomato peel if needed.

Step 5 :

Finally, take the peeled garlic pods and roast it in a pan with ghee. Add mustard seeds and jeera to it.

Step 6 :

Add this tempering to the dal and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Tasty rasam is ready to serve.
